On Monday 28th June 2021, the church of ADEPR, Nyagatare region commemorated the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
The event begun by laying wreath onto the Kiziguro genocide memorial site to honor the victims that are laid to rest there, and supporting three households of the genocide survivors who were given cows
The representative of IBUKA in Gatsibo District, Sibomana Jean Nepo thanked ADEPR for supporting genocide survivors. He recalled some of the facts that marked preparation and execution of the genocide against the Tutsi in this area, especially the role of former bourgoumestre Jean Baptiste Gatete in establishing, training and coordinating militias as well as arresting, imprisoning and killing the Tutsi on false allegations that they would be accomplices of Inkotanyi.
He thanked ADEPR Rwankuba which is going to erect a monument onto which will be written the names of its believers who were victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
The deputy spokesperson of ADEPR at national level, Rev Eugene Rutagarama urged church believers to always support genocide survivors in them renew process.
The director of good governance in Gatsibo District Achille Hategekimana Samson condemned those who participated in the genocide and commended genocide survivors who strive to renew and for their courage to forgive those who killed theirs.
