UNHCR boss pays tribute to victims of the genocide against the Tutsi at Nyamata memorial

On Sunday 25th April 2021, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi paid tributes to victims of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi laid to rest in Nyamata genocide memorial site.

He and his delegation toured different parts of the memorial as they were concomitantly provided with explanations about the history of the genocide against the Tutsi and that of Nyamata genocide memorial in particular.

 In the message he wrote in the memorial’s guest book after visiting the memorial, he said “words fail. Thank you for ensuring we do not forget. Never again”

 Filippo Grandi who was accompanied by Rwanda’s minister for Emergency Management, Marie Solange Kayisire is in Rwanda for a four days’ work visit.
