The Commercial Bank of Rwanda (BCR) yesterday as part of the commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, committed Rwf 1,000,000 as a contribution towards the maintenance of Ntarama memorial site.

The bank’s Staff also took part in laying commemoration wreaths at Ntarama Memorial site.

The bank held a ceremony to commemorate the Genocide against the Tutsis and remember its staff members who were killed during the cataclysmic event.

Mr. Karengera Ildephonse Director of memory and prevention of Genocide in CNLG who was the guest of honour led the rest of the staff members in lighting of candles and a vigil in memory of the employees and clients who lost their lives.

“Through this ceremony, the bank wants to show its solidarity with the surviving families of the victims,” said Isaiah Chindumba Chief Operating Officer of BCR.

He also announced that BCR is planning to build a memorial in remembrance of the bank’s employees killed in the Genocide at BCR headquarters.

Mr.Karengera, the Director of Memory and Prevention of Genocide in National Commission for the fight against Genocide thanked BCR’s contribution to support maintenance of Ntarama memorial site.

As we commemorate for the 19th time the 1994 genocide against Tutsi, it is important to always reflect on ways of fighting genocide and its ideology in our daily activities at the family, society and national level. He Said.
