Rusizi: Students pledge to uphold patriotism by fighting against Genocide ideology

Student of the Groupe Scolaire Sainte Esprit de Mushaka located in Rwimbogo Sector, Rusizi District pledge to uphold patriotism by fighting against Genocide ideology.

This was pledged on 13 July 2017 during a lecture given to them by the Coordinator of the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) in Rusizi District Laurent Twahirwa aiming at Genocide prevention and the fight against Genocide ideology.

Twahirwa explained to them about the history of the preparation and execution of the Genocide against the Tutsi and the role played by the youth in the battle to stop the Genocide. He urged them to join hands in striving for a never again to Genocide in Rwanda by building on the progress.

The Dean of Studies at this school thanked the CNLG for sending someone to teach them about the history of Rwanda especially the history of the Genocide perpetrated against Tutsi. He asked the CNLG to help them to find the curricula on the history of the Genocide because most of their students were born after 1994 and have the passion to know more about the history of the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

The Director of Education in Rwimbogo Sector Jean Damascene Nshimiyimana who came to join the 1286 students and 31 teachers in the lecture urged the audience to listen carefully and to ask questions where necessary because most of people doesn’t know the History of Rwanda. He said “it is necessary that you understand well the history of the Genocide for you to be able to denounce those who distort it in order to take our Rwanda back to the darkness”
